Joel has traveled to twenty countries and learned bits and pieces of over a dozen languages. Upon his return to Greensboro, it always was difficult to sustain language skills developed abroad. This project is designed to develop and nurture foreign language skills for travelers and to enhance the English skills of foreigners whose primary language is not English.

The Concept – language lovers will meet at the J Spencer Love Tennis Center, 3802 Jaycee Park Drive, on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. A language walk will proceed around the lake at Country Park, a distance of 2.2 miles. Over time we hope to have several groups speaking several languages. We will start with the German, Italian, French and Spanish. Both native and non-native speakers are welcome. In the event of rain we can seek shelter at Spencer Love Tennis Center.

There is no cost for participating. If you are a teacher of foreign language, we hope that you will share this information with your students so that they can take advantage of this opportunity to practice conversation. Once a core group is established we can discuss the most convenient times to schedule additional walks in the park.
